I was reading a book this morning that mentioned an old arcade game called Six Gun. It consisted of a mannequin dressed up as a cowboy and you stood next to a holster and gun that was on a stand. The idea was to out-draw the cowboy. You put your money in and I think the cowboy would say something like "Howdy, partner", and then count "1 - 2 - 3 - Draw!"
This was a completely mechanical game from the 50's or 60's.
I remember seeing is in my youth and wonder if anyone else remembers it? I've tried looking for pictures or info but I can't find anything. Can anyone help out?
It sounds very much like Exhibit Supply Co. 'Six Shooter'. This consisted of a mannequin which stood behind saloon style doors connected to an air compressor. The dummy was also connected to the compressor to move eyes and mouth that were synched with a speech track. The player would have a couple of attempts to try to outdraw the dummy. I have seen these using the title of 'Johnny Rio' which was the name of the dummy. I believe it first appeared some time in the early 1950s, perhaps between 1950 and 1952.
Thanks for your help. Using the info you supplied I was able to find a website that had info and pictures.
According to the website Six Shooter didn't include a mannequin:
