Title: Retro Ball DVD
boyo - December 8, 2005 12:33 AM (GMT)
I have about 1 1/2 hrs of video coverage of the The Retro Ball I could put onto a DVD if anyone is interested.
As long as the blank DVD and postage are covered I dont mind - so say a £1. Any further payment above that will go to the Everyman charity.

I'm up for a copy. I want a better idea of what these events are like - its a long way to go if I'm ever going to do it. Only one I've been to was Game On in Edinburgh but that was much bigger and a whole different set up at the museum.

Putting this together now chaps....should be ready very soon. Paul from Retro Trader has offered to duplicate and package the DVD (Thanks Paul) so it will look real professional (hopefully).
Will decide a price - an amount per sale will be going to charity.
Cheers and A Happy New Year!!

Like the Star Destroyer flying over the whole thing at the top of the image. "v.retro" ;)
Can't wait for this. Also loved the RG article about the Retro Ball (well I liked the pictures, but I disagree with Darran about his take on some of the RB stuff).
koopa42 - January 3, 2006 12:15 PM (GMT)
Yo' Donkeyspank, what parts of the article did you not agree with, just interested :)
boyo - January 3, 2006 12:20 PM (GMT)
The DVD editing is practically done.
Will burn it onto DVD tonight and do a QA (i.e. watch it on the TV  ).
There is about 1hr 15mins of coverage which covers:
1) Philip Olivers opening speech
2) A walkaround of the venue showing each of the exhibitor areas
3) The full Q/A session
4) Presentation of the Coding Competition prizes
5) More coverage of the exhibitors
6) Gallery of pics.
The main menu and Gallery section is accompanied by an original piece of music by Mark Knight aka madfiddler.

If people could do a show of hands on if they are interested in getting their hands on a copy of the DVD on here , just so I have a rough idea of amounts of covers needed to be printed , (can do more of course later , but as doing as cheap as poss' to allow more money to go to Chaaritty.. dont want to over produce !) this would be helpful.
Thanks
Regards
Paul

Yep - count me in for the DVD.
Also, in answer to Koops' question - I disagree with Darran's views about the size of the venue (I thought it was ideal and heightened the atmosphere) and his views on the "extensive" Jamma cabs - IMO "so what?", Jamma cabs allow more people to enjoy more games. Where's the problem? Anyway, ho-de-hum each to their own and all that. I thought it was a pitch-perfect show, and the addition of some famous faces like Archer, Rob H, David W, Olivers, Jon Hare etc (and all more than happy to chat to/drink with a drunken speccy freak at the bar! ;) ) was the icing on the cake. Even got a few autographs ffs - can't beat it!
*edit* If you guys can just get Matt Smith to come along to RB2 it'd make the whole event better than.... well, better than a swingers' party at the smurf village. With free booze. And big flatscreen TVs. Those smurfs can take some lovin' believe me!

Thats how I feel about the event - it was a world away from the atmosphere at CGE (don't get me wrong I enjoyed CGE i just prefer a social atmosphere)
also VERY important that there was a bar no more than 10 metres away from any given console :) SHAAAWWIIIINNNNG
DonkeySpank - January 4, 2006 04:43 PM (GMT)
The bar was a superb place to hang around - I met a lot of people at the bar, including all the people I managed to get autographs from, and ended up having a few beers with them and some nice chats at the same time. Gotta say I had a fecken ball (no pun intended) and I'd jump at the chance of going to RB2.
Mort - January 4, 2006 04:47 PM (GMT)
I would also love to have a copy as I sadly could not make the event, next best thing etc :-)

Just a quick update - just bought a batch of blank DVDs - waiting on them arriving ASAP - question - I have a box of slimline DVD cases which I can use to keep the cost down if people are happy with me using them rather than the standard cases - let me know happy to go either way , but as I have them kicking around....can do the whole thing much cheaper if people are happy with them ??
The master DVD is here , so soon as the discs come will get it up on the retrotrader shop site and let people know , should not be long !
DonkeySpank - January 11, 2006 10:54 AM (GMT)
Yeah I'm more than happy with the slimline cases - they all fit in the rack so no probs from me
