retrorob - January 25, 2006 01:40 PM (GMT)
I read today in the Metro that NINTENDO are sponsoring a computer games of the past exibition at the science museum in London later this year.
Apparantly there will be all sorts of retro consoles/computers right up to date, and you can have a go as well.....
Can't wait
Or is it a plug for the revolution?

Would love to know more about this, but can't find it on the Science Museum website...

Is it 'Game On' returning from its tour of the US and Europe, or is it a new exhibition?

Simon - January 25, 2006 05:38 PM (GMT)
It's not GameOn, but it is supported by Nintendo and will have games and other stuff from 197something to the presesnt day, apparently.

Regards
Simon

I read about this with great interest in the paper today. It's a shame they can't move these kind of things around the country or at least have them somewhere other than London for a change. It's running until 2007 though so I should manage to see it, just means visiting the inlaws. <_<

They moved Game on from its start in the Barbican up to Edinburgh, then across to Europe and finally the US. How far do you want them to go? ;)

I'd like to see this one tour. I could stretch to Edinburgh or Glasgow, but London is just too far and stupidly expensive to get to. Nae chance of it hitting Aberdeen :(

To be honest I would settle for anywhere other than London. As a Northerner I come out in a nasty rash when I go to London. ;)

The M25 is our moat. Do not cross the moat!

It was also spread on a Birmingham newspaper, on the third page. Detailing about the retro gaming experience. The event is something I'd love to go to. As I was hoping to go somewhere special later on this year.

I'd love to see this sort event maybe at the NEC or maybe Think Tank or somewhere like that in Birmingham. London gets everything .... Bah! If the event does happen, maybe one weekend I may be paying a visit, and experience all the nostalgia of classic gaming :)

There a bit more info in The Edge magazine.(march)
The exhibition is called 'Game on' and sponsored by Nintendo.

If it's "Game On" returning to the UK, then I saw this a few years ago in Glasgow. It's a great event though, I especially liked the massive screen for playing mame on (12ft bombjack  ), and the virtual table tennis game where you have to actually try and play table tennis :D

Are you sure it wasn't Edinburgh?

I don't recall it making two stops in Scotland. I struck lucky as my wife had a business metting in Edinburgh while it was on there, so I was able to get a freebie hotel and a whole day to play.

yep you're right - it was a few years ago mind. Plus coming from the Highlands, both of these southern cities are quite similar. We stayed with a mate from Livingston the night before and got there when it opened the next morning. Glad to see it wasn't just full of kids - there was actually some people older looking than me there :D

Well with any luck I'll get to see it at the end of the year. I'd heard about Game On and planned to go see it after I'd moved to London (from Glasgow). Imagine how gutted I felt when I swish along to the Barbican only to find it had moved to Edinburgh.

Next time I was in Edinburgh, it was on it's worldwide tour. All I've seen so far is the catalogue...

Nah, I think you're jinxed and destined never to see it. They're deliberately avoiding you...

Tbh the catalogue is better than the book anyway.

If you do eventually get there it can prove to be expensive (once you leave). Game On is responsible for me owning an Atari Jaguar just for Tempest 2000, as well as getting me on an age long hunt for Rez on Dreamcast (which strangely I eventually picked up cheap in GameStation).
