Title: Chocolate at lunch

sshblack - March 1, 2006 12:17 PM (GMT)
Top 5 chocolate biscuits in your mask lunchbox, with reasons for your decisions.

Trio = just for the amazing toffee stuff on top and the song.

Club
= Everyone had one of these so you could rally an entire classroom or lunch hall in to a rendition of "If you like a lot of chocolate on your biscuit...."

Twix = You could eat all the toffee from the top and then pretend to use the biscuit left over with the holes in as an imaginary flute or poo.

Breakaways = you could rub your finger along the foil and get an entire imprint of the breakaway biscuit on the foil and enjoy it's priceless beauty while carefully removing the chocolate goodness from its foil prison.

penguins = catchy slogan, uber chocolately taste and a free joke on the wrapper which made the day seem that bit better.

any other suggestions?

Kit Kat - the single most popular lunch break snack in this country - FACT

thats about it

hmmm not sure if i can think of 5 ... as what has already been mentioned were food of the gods when you were 9.

I used to like:

Kit Kat = I would put mine in the fridge and then chop it up into tiny mini pieces so it would last an entire episode of Centurions !. If you freeze Mars bars for 30 mins or so - and then try to eat them it kinda gives the same results today ! .. takes aaaaages !

Wagon Wheels = Used to like these loads, you would go through the same kinda thing as most chocolate though and disect it into 2 halves with your teeth .. and eat it vertically (if that makes any sense !) .. made it last longer anyway.

Custard Creams = not Chocky, But I still do this today - eat the custard in the middle and then eat the biscuit.

Club = Now these were great ! .. and had to include them evn though you already mentioned them ! .. they were very good at being disected so you only had the biscuit left .. I liked the milk chocolate ones best, but there were quite a few different flavours as i remember.

... that'll do for now ...

UNITED - it had three sections!

PENGUIN - how can you not like a biscuit named after a confused, flightless bird?

TWIX - chocolate, caramel, biscuit and just as you thought the bar was finished - lo! Another one!

FINGERS - a packet of these will be gone in ten minutes - very addictive.

BOURBON CREAMS - like Penguins only without the chocolate coating, hence the lower score

:)

Used to love Trios and Penguins, went off Kit Kats after eating too many of them

1. Mint Clubs.

2. Mint Uniteds. Yum. These were my fave back then.

3. Gold Bars (after I left primary school, but the tastiest biscuit bar of them all)

My nan used to buy us Sport biscuits, but imho they're quite bland.

:D Yes yes yes! Gold Bars rule! :D

My mother in law seems to have an unhealthy obsession with the Sport biscuits too, I don't know why. It's an old people thing I guess. Perhaps they'll get to us all in the end. :(

My dilemma these days is that all the nice things I used to like having in my lunchbox as a kid (Twixes, Mars Bars, Milky Ways) are the very things I'm not allowed to have during the day at work now....I work in the office above the warehouse that distributes Mars/Masterfoods products in the UK and Europe. :(

Freebies every Wednesday though :)

1. Orange Club - Chocolate + Orange + Biscuit = Manna from heaven.

2. Gold Bars - Because it made you look like you were really rich but real gold bars aren't as tasty.

3. Bourbon creams - Biscuity perfection. One of the only two biscuits I could eat a whole packet of in one sitting.

4. Custard creams - See Bourbon creams. Plus my gran always had these when I went there to visit.

5. Breakaways - Because my other gran always kept us supplied with loads of these. Chunky chocolatey goodness.

Jumpman - March 2, 2006 03:41 PM (GMT)
Breakaway are still class but they taste a bit different. I stopped eating them for a while.

When I was much younger I couldn't get enough of Toffypops (sp?) and now I can't finish one.

I loved United though, very good. And I also have extremely fond memories of Montegos and Bandits, in spite of not remembering what either tasted like as they seem to have been gone for a long, long time.

One giant massive high-five for any mention of gold bars and a extremely proud smile and nod for toffypops.

someone mentioned those caramel busicuits (called caramel) which were in a red and gold wrapper and tried to convince the nation that they sold over 300,000 a week or something. Which always then started a massive debate about how many people per week ate these things and was this possible...etc. It was branded right there on the wrapper so they musy have been shifting a few to make such a bold "average" statement.

Personally I think it was some kind of biscuit conspiracy, but I never could prove it.

Tunnocks, I think you mean? They still have that on the wrappers.

Ghostbiscuit - March 4, 2006 01:06 AM (GMT)
Tunnocks entire range is biscuity goodness. Except you don't want a Tunnocks Teacake for your school lunch. They always seemed to 'burst' in your bag, coating everything in what I believe is called "mallow".

And despite the fact I thought they were the most dull biscuits imaginable when I was a kid, I now realise the error of my ways and recognise the Kit-Kat as King of Biscuits. Especially the Chunky variety. :)

This has just made me realise: What happened to all those downright odd flavours they started bringing out a couple of years ago? They all seem to have vanished.

KitKat always claimed those flavours were limited editions. Orange was good, white chocolate was perhaps not as good as it could have been.

sshblack - March 4, 2006 01:13 PM (GMT)
Well I'll be damned, they were made by tunnocks but had CARAMEL on the front. after hours of trying to search for "caramel" through google (only 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 results) I went to the tunnocks website and there they were! Also bonus point for Tunnocks cos they also make those weird marshmellow cake thingies.

http://www.tunnock.co.uk/products.htm go here to see them, thery're on the left in the silver and red foil.

Ah well... I liked most of them, but can't work out why anyone on the Kit-Kat board thought it would be a good idea to bring out lime flavour Kit-Kats.

And this: Caramac Kit-Kats were a stroke of genius.

Those flavours are all still available in multipacks of twin kit-kats (Caramac as well). They have disappeared in the 4 finger variety bought in newsagents afaik.

Sonic Quack - March 10, 2006 08:41 AM (GMT)
I have a feeling I liked Ace bars too, but can't quite remember what they were.

Those Caramel bars were tasty too, although rather sweet (not too surprising really).

Another one not on the list yet is Waifa bars from Marks & Spencer. The dark chocolate ones were divine.

Tunnocks Caramel bars are one of my personal favourites, along with Trio and orange Club bars.

How about Rocky bars? Or Blue Ribbon (or was it Riband?)
