Title: Retro Fusion issue 1
Description: OUT NOW at Gamestation or order online

realretro - March 24, 2006 06:28 PM (GMT)
Just got a e-mail with the following:

Hi there,

Issue 1 of Retro Fusion will be hitting ALL Gamestation stores throughout the UK w/c 10th April 2006. Very shortly you will be able to pre-order your copy of the magazine on the website and in doing so ensuring you receive Retro Fusion before it hits the high streets.

It's been a great ride getting Issue 1 done and dusted and along the way we have acquired a number of highly recognised names onto the team.

First is Archer Maclean for Dropzone, International Karate, Jimmy White's Snooker, and more recently, Mercury fame. Archer has written a 3 page article on his restoration of an original Pacman cocktail cabinet.

Andrew Oliver has written a 4 page article on how it was like for him and his brother Philip developing the Dizzy games back in the 80's.

We also have a number of recognised Retro Gamer freelancers on board - Craig Vauham, Spanner Spencer and Andrew Fisher.

Look forward to hearing your feedback on the forum - how about popping in and saying hello :-)

Regards,

Chris

No doubt most of you got the same.

I got that email TWICE

So I read it twice and liked it twice!

As far as I was aware I thought it was going to be only available to order over the net, so that's great news for me that I can pick it up in my local gamestation. (Credit card issues meaning i'm no longer in a position to buy on the internet, all my money would go on dvd's anyway)

I miss the old cover. the picture of Sonic in his slippers was quite funny and reminded me of the good old days of hand drawn cover art.

The nice people at Sega would like to use the cover we have now Ash - they would not give us permission to use the other one. The website will be updated shortly.

They went in my junk email bin for some reason. Anyway, it's good to see that the magazine has finally arrived - what's the page count going to be & how many adverts are there ?

Magazine is 68 pages in total including front and back page.

The back page is an advert for Taito Legends 2. There are 7 1/2 pages of adverts inside the magazine.

It will cost £3.00.

That's a shame but I guess there's no point arguing with a big company like Sega.

Looking forward to it.

Looking good fellow , looking good ...!!!!

At of interest , apart from being a collectors piece which you should all rush out and buy now , it also has another collectors angle to it.....

As per the thread I posted in the other part of the forum , about the game we have had to cancel (Office Massacre) due to a worldwide witch hunt about it kicking off just before it was due to be lauched , it seems to have been tarred with the dubious title of being potentially the first game ever to be cancelled just pre-launch because of negative publicity from some foreign quarters......

Well in RF issue one , is the only advert which has or ever will be now placed for the game , which adds another small collectors reason for buying the mag , as if you needed one anyway !!

My copy of issue one fell through the letter box this morning !! :D

Only had a quick flick through so far this morning , after posty dropped it through the door , but its looking mighty fine , our advertisement looks good as well  , but a totally 100% top effort , and praise must go out to all the Retro Fusion team , well done guys , and looking forward to going into a Gamestation and seeing it there ! As well as the ordered copy I will get one in a shop as well to show support , and recommend everyone to do the same to show our support for Chris and the gang !!

Antiriad2097 - April 12, 2006 05:15 PM (GMT)
Just got home and my copy has arrived. Had a quick look, the content list has some interesting topics straight off. A full content list here wouldn't hurt to sell a few more copies. Star Wars toys article has caught my eye for now :D

Got my copy from the Leeds Gamestation today. Had to phone up the Halifax branch as the barcode on the front wouldn't scan to get the ID number for the till ! ... but from the 2 copies he had on the shelf I had one and a member of staff had the other after flicking through mine while waiting for this code .. he spotted the Dizzy article and announced that it was his favourite game when he was 6 .. I hated to tell him that I actually sold that game in the shop I used to work in ... (I feel very old now ....)

Will read for cover to cover tonight and give you my reaction Chris ..

Ross ....

Hey m8 - u found it yet? :o

Went in today (Wednesday) after work, pretty much ran up the street to get there before it shut, no retro fusion in Elgin yet. :( :( :(

Jumpman - April 21, 2006 05:47 PM (GMT)
Glasgow has oodles of them. Yes, doesn't scan, but they sold it to me (imagine that'll get sorted).

Well... I am so impressed. I really am. I liked issue 0, I really did but I have to say that there has been such a leap in terms of quality and professionalism. It's excellent, as good as anything I've read.

The mix of articles is great, the interviews and celeb penned pieces fascinating, and the humour splendid. You've found a future star in Peter Parrish, he's had me snorting with laughter all afternoon. So a star already really :D

The page count is great as well. I've been reading it for a bit today and I'm only half way through. More to read later :D Good value.

The coverage of different formats is great too. The Sam Coupe article in particular was an eye opener for me considering I was around the 8 bit scene during that time.

Even the IQ+ cartoon made me laugh (and me a CPC owner). It was a combination of the well observed joke and the looks on the little guy's faces.

Wow! Well done. I look forward to the next one.

Greetings to you all, espesh my scottish comrades :D

The Gamestation in Union Street has a fair few in as I went in there myself on Tuesday.

I think issue one is a top notch read. It's fresh, fun and above all passionate and that's what really matters.

I have to echo what a lot of people have said. I am really impressed with Mr Parrish's work and I look forward to seeing what's next from this kid. :)

All in all, it's a pretty damned good read.. tell all your friends, get your granny to buy it for someone's christmas and tell them it's an investment, but whatever you do, don't miss out on this, coz it's puttin the kool back into old skool ;)

Elgin_McQueen - April 22, 2006 05:24 PM (GMT)
Finally picked it up today, lookin not bad, really enjoyed the Dizzy article, the fact it was mainly written by someone who was actually involved makes in so many times better than it could've been. Keep it up and you'll continue to get my money!!! :D :D :D

boyo - April 22, 2006 08:04 PM (GMT)
