Title: stoppit and tidyup
sshblack - March 30, 2006 11:14 AM (GMT)
anyone remember the 80's cartoon with all the creatures names being commands from parents, like stoppit, tidyup, brushyateeth, etc??
It's on dvd now for all those who care.
I hope this gets more of a reaction than my Diplodos post.

Didn't Terry Wogan do the voice-over?
scoca - March 30, 2006 12:28 PM (GMT)
He sure did.
I remember the character called The Big, Bad I SAID NO.

It was made by the same guys who did Trapdoor.
Which is coincidentally also out on DVD :D
Terry Brain and Steve Box who now both work for Aardman animations and both worked on the recent Wallace and Gromit movie. In fact Steve Box does most of the model making and animation with Nick Park.

Bee Quiet and Bee Have, wasn't it?
Not that I'm young enough to remember. I may have seen an episode or two when my younger brother was watching. :D

I wasn't young enough to watch this regularly but can remember it from a particular incident which involved a whole bunch of us being at a mates house fairly seriously worse for wear. For some reason we decided that watching a Stoppit and Tidyup video that his daughter had left behind when she had visited was a really good idea. Trust me, watching it whilst p****d is amusing but the one member of our group who had unbeknownst to the rest of us done something a little stronger was utterly freaked out by it, especially the things that occasionally flew across the screen in random ways (I think they were supposed to be purple bugs) and we had to talk him out from behind the curtains as he was convinced he was hallucinating. So, picture if you will the slightly surreal scene of a bunch of drunk blokes trying to talk a hallucinating biker out from behind the curtains whilst a kids TV program narrated by Terry Wogan plays in the corner.

Hurry Up, Eat Your Greens.
I was probably too old for this show and yet I thought it the most hilarious thing I had ever seen.
I think it was more the idea in my head of Terry Wogan spouting a load of commands and instructions while supposedly narrating a cartoon that made me laugh, more than the actual cartoon.
He's a comedy genius.
