Title: Silent Hill
Description: The Movie...

Just been to see Silent Hill and I'm quite impressed. I'm not terribly familiar with the source material having not played much of the games, but as a horror film it works pretty well.
Some genuinely uneasy moments, largely due to the unearthliness of the creatures - almost but not quite human, they're recognisable enough in many ways but also quite unnatural in others. A disturbing mix. Just like the game :)
Could have done without any of Sean Bean's scenes, they just seemed a bit dull and pretty pointless, as if they'd paid for a star so needed to maximise his screen time. More of the light and dark changes would have been time better spent.
Overall though, a decent horror movie and certainly one of the (if not the) best videogame to film transitions so far. Lets just hope a sequel doesn't screw things up like Resident Evil did...

Johnny Vaghan gave it 3.5 dogs which is pretty good.
I only played the first game which was a bit disturbing i tried "The Room"(No 4).
But i gave up as it really needed a joypad.(rented from Library £1 per week).
Now i got a joypad but now my Pc gfx are too shitty.
The rumours were this was gonna be ok.
Its a leave your brain at the door and enjoy type of film i think.

Its no Shakespear, but then I've always thought he was over-rated anyway ;)
Its better than the trailer would have you believe.

I'm looking forward to it.
Just not expecting too much or I will be disappointed.

Just listened to Mark Kermode's review from the BBC site, e obviously did expect too much - he complains that the narrative is weak and badly handled. Sorry Mark, but its a horror film. Its got more plot than most of those. Sure, its clumsy at times, but the good outweighs the bad for me.
Mind you, I watched House of the Dead 2 on Thursday night and thought it was ok, but judged against its forebear thats none too difficult.
