For some bizarre reason the song from "Rings on your Fingers" has been permanently etched into my memory...

Spin the wheel, the game's begun
Pick a ring, it's lots of fun
If it matches, then you place a ring on your finger, where it's safe
Think very hard
Remember the square
Next tme round it will be therrrreeeee

Rings on your fingers!

It's fun, fun, fun, fun, fun!

Oh, dear. Anyone else remember this?

Yellow Pages.

Anyway, check these out if you haven't already seen them.

Ads for computer games.

Vanguard is my favourite. Luther's laugh at the end. Disturbing.

Just had a look but I've got no speakers on this PC (at work), they look good though.

Have you seen these?

Stanley Unwin!!

I remember everyone at school yelling "ARMADILLOS" at each other thanks to that bloody Dime Bar advert with Harry Enfield.

My fave ad was one for GAP with Kenny Wayne Shepherd layin down a lick, still to this day the only video I have of him playing.

Just had a look at the sight and it brought back a suppressed childhood memory of the straws of milkshake that were produced. Either my gran or my mother got hold of a stack of these and tried them out on me. I can say they were truly disgusting. Hideous 1970s artificial flavourings were about the most unpleasant thing you could taste especially banana flavour. Even to this day I hate things with banana flavouring in them because of those bloody Humphrey straws.

The stickers however were really cool. I think there might be a few still on the underside of the lid of the old toybox I use for resting the TV on in the den (probably next to the Clarks Commandos sticker and Panini football '77 spares :) )

Oddly that advert caused much mirth and hilarity in my house as both the missus and our lodger picked up on the phrase so any question would be answered with it. Shouting upstairs to see if anyone was in the bathroom would elicit a muffled scream of "ARRRRMAADILLOOOOS!" from behind the door. Ah such witty humour :)

merman - September 14, 2005 11:44 AM (GMT)
Texas Tom. We had a teacher who looked just like the actor in that ad. In fact, the funniest bit (apart from humming the tune under our breath in his class) was when someone called him Tom straight to his face...

Turrican - September 14, 2005 12:21 PM (GMT)
Lest we forget the advert for Um Bongo.... :D

Way down deep in the middle of the congo, a hippo took an apricot, a guava and a mango, he juggled with the others and he danced a dainty tango, the Rhino said I KNOW, WE'LL CALL IT UM BONGO!!!!!!!..

Can't remember the rest though... :) either that or I'm too sad to admit it ;)

I thought all the BT ads with Maureen Lipman were class.

Da da, da ,da...

I used to have one of those little keyboards they sampled the drum pattern for that from (as originally made famous in the above song).

Casio VL-1 if I remember rightly, it was also used (and seen on telly much to my joy) when The Snowmen made their Top of The Pops appearance :D

Anyone mentioned Ridley Scott's Hovis adverts yet? Ee, when I were a lad ;)

Tsietisin - September 17, 2005 11:58 AM (GMT)
Beiung a retro freak I have a couple of hundred adverts from the 80's on my computer.

Heres one from when razors had just the one blade

http://media.putfile.com/80s_advert-Wilkin...d_Retractor_raz

but of course, they had to start doubling up to start on their quest for just having more blades on a razor.

http://media.putfile.com/80s_advert-Gilette_Blue_II

Now the chances are that none of you really remember those two adverts, so here is one that you should.
