Title: The Retro Ball

boyo - August 26, 2005 12:51 PM (GMT)
Chaps, the event is for charity with all ticket sales going to the Everyman Project for testicular cancer.

David Whittaker, Jon Hare and Ben Daglish are confirmed guests. Ben is going to be MC for the weekend.

I am currently chasing Rob Hubbard (99% chance of him coming) plus Malcolm Evans plus Archer. Malcolm will come if he can fit it into his busy schedule. Awaiting a reply from Archer.

Does anyone have the contact details or know of any famous Retro celebs that we could bring to the show?

I need help advertising the event and selling tickets.

The web page for the event is Play4Charity

Please buy a ticket and tell your friends, family and colleagues about the show.

Details will appear shortly about the schedule for the weekend. Lets put it like this, we have already got 16 arcade cabinets coming (Daytona upright being one of them) plus 6 Pinball machines and each area in the venue will have a themed Zone

Please post if you intend coming to the event. I will maintain a list of attendees on this post.

Tried contacting martin galway? he was acetastic brill and fab too IIRC!!!

boyo - August 26, 2005 01:06 PM (GMT)
David W has told Martin G about the event so fingers crossed.

Martin is based in Texas now so his presence all depends if he is in the UK at the time.

Rob Hubbard will let me know in the next couple of weeks whether he can make it.

Merman has also contacted some celebs on my behalf - thanks Andrew.

So all ticking along nicely.... a celeb actually bought 2 tickets for the event last night. I need to talk to him to see if he would like to be on the Celeb list.

Mike - August 26, 2005 02:19 PM (GMT)
I read you contacted Jonathon Dunn as well, any news on him? Gotta be my favourite C64 artist.

where are you from spank?

DonkeySpank - August 31, 2005 10:54 AM (GMT)
Just outside Warwick, a place called Hatton. So it's less than a 10min drive to Kenilworth for me. Or a 15 min cycle ride. Easy! Can you get arrested for cycling while drunk?! I'm thinking ahead to the Retro Ball! ;)

koopa42 - August 31, 2005 08:12 PM (GMT)
Cool, am a Cov kid myself. Must say Hatton is a good day out

Hehe, you just reminded me of the time I cycled home whilst mullered a few years back. I can honestly say I have never concentrated on a bike ride (particularly the yellow lines that I was trying to follow!) so much. To answer the question, yes I think you can be arrested for being drunk in charge of a bicycle!! I suppose if you fell off, the pain would be numbed somewhat...

Cheers :D

DonkeySpank - September 1, 2005 09:47 AM (GMT)
How about if I cycled back along the canal towpath, instead of the road? When (not if) I fall in the canal and need my bike retrieved by the fire brigade, will I be likely to be charged by the fuzz?

'Course, I could just get the missus to give me a lift, or even get a taxi, but y'know "where's the risk"? ;) Cycling along the canal, at night, very very drunk, humming the Mr.Do theme tune.... It's what life's all about!

By the way Koops - are you going to the Retro Ball?

DonkeySpank - September 1, 2005 03:20 PM (GMT)
Would love to help out on the Fri but won't get home from London (work) till about 8pm, then bath & feed mini-Spank and eat dinner with Mrs.Spank and it'll be about 11pm....
Could do something early on Sat morning though if you need help? Mini-Spank is up at 6am so I can be at Kenilworth for say 7am onwards on Saturday if you need extra hands?

btyler1978 - September 2, 2005 12:19 PM (GMT)
We will be there and really looking forward to this.

Will be enjoying another round of drinks (except try not to get such a bad hangover as at CGE  ).
