I was a member of Laser Quest in Oxford. Twice a week for 3 years!!! Must have sunk a small fortune into their Point Blank machine!

I went to one once. I made the mistake of wearing a white T-Shirt, which lit up like a big lighting-up thing because of the UV lights! I still came 4th :)

We've had a couple of works do's there (bowling then Quazar). I will never forget the sight of a woman in her late fifties running at me with a gun in the most Ramboesque manner ever. Scared the crap out of me. And she was such a nice lady

The last time I played Quasar was at the Metro Centre in Gateshead will a load of girls from work. I was really getting into it, charging around like a mad thing. Except I got a bit too enthusiastic and jumped down this ramp, turned my ankle and 'crack' - broken bones. Spent a month on crutches and it took 6 months for the ankle to fully heal.
Most embarassing thing was being sprawled on the floor with everyone looking at me and still bloody firing as I'm writhing on the floor in agony... bastards!

Astria good Story,, Awful about the leg though
Played Quasar in MR.B's in Weston (where else) unfortunately, it and MR.B's has been split in to a chinese restaurant, and a Yate's... :(
It was played on two levels and the upper level had a gantry perfect for sniping. me averages was approx 10k dunno if thats good or bad seemed middleish, but they were leagues there, and most of the people spent their time with back against wall, and second hand over side pods with gun covering front pod.. no fun whatsoever
There was also a Gamezone( not zzap zone which is what i think quasar became iirc) which had black armour and different colour lights blue, gold and red... when you got shot, all the lights on you pack, inc shoulder ones went off... so was perfectly possible to go into enemy base after being shot and cause havoc by saying you were on their team and shooting them lots when you lights went back on.
I also played in Torquay, Gloucester and Newport... but the one at Trocadero was supposed to have a lift or summat which would have been good.. and i liked the print outs you got at the end which told you your score and who youd been shot by etc
Did anyone try the Aliens Experience, was that a similar thing... always wanted to go but was closed when last went to London which was ages ago... went since on a school trip but didnt go anywhere near that part of london, poo!
Had some Harrods beer which was quite nice,
i guess it was a proto FPS Deathmatch before FPS' had become established?

Been once - to a Quazer in Bolton .. i think it is still there. After that me and load of mates decided that it was poo .. and that we wanted proper guns n' hurt .. so we decided on to try Paintball .. and to this day - 10 years later we still play it .. i have all the protective gear and a Spyder TL Plus, semi-auto gun (upto 15 shots a second) .. we occasionly play with rookies at a local mill who sets up the games - REALLY funny to see thier faces when we come out all in proper gear and padding with big funky guns when they have .... puny pistols .... lambs to the slaughter ...
not that i am into guns or anything, it is all in jest and fun .. I arranged a "outing" for the guys at work .. so funny .. of course the managers got it big time .. one guy was shot from all angles ala the cover of platoon !!! .. and one was shot point blank on the ear .. i can still see the mark 1 year later ...

If you mean
Alien War, then I went twice. I'm a massive fan of the Alien films (mainly Aliens), so I totally loved it. It was really scary. Grown men were crapping themselves and running like girls (me included).
It was amazing to be in a corridor from Aliens with klaxons going off and marines shouting and shooting at aliens, lighting them up with the strobe effect from the guns. Suddenly you turn round and there is an alien 2 feet from you frozen in a flash of the gun with it's arms stretching out for you :o Then you get ing a lift and an alien grabs someone from it, kicking and screaming...
It's a shame that Sega World above it burst a water main, flooding the whole thing and destroying it :(

Man, I loved Quasar!
I just eBayed my old
Sega Lock On Guns a few days ago - basically, the same sort of thing you had at Quasar, but you could play it anywhere you wanted.
These are still really easy to pick up on eBay and I've had many laughs with these when camping after a few beers. You can add as many as you wanted too - potentially you could have a full scale war with twenty odd mates!
Actually, I kinda wish I hadn't sold them now, but hey-ho, isn't life full of regrets!

Yeah, I went to a few of these. Laser Quest in Coventry, Quasar in Coventry (until it shut down), Quasar in Telford (until it BURNED down), Zapp Zone in Coventry (pretty cack).
I remember the Telford one was pretty sweet, and unlike the normal black-painted bits of knocked together wood & some nets like you usually got, it was a nicely designed futuristic environment. The only problem when I went there was some older kid decided I'd make pretty easy prey (I must have only been about 12 or something at the time), and I ended up getting killed more times than I could tell him to fuck off.
Oh I remember we had a school tourney at the Laser Quest in Coventry, which we only lost because some fat kid decided to charge us like Big Van Vader on the stairs if we ever tried to get past.
Come to think of it, did anyone actually get through a session of the Quest with 'no running, physical contact or climbing on the obstacles'?

I doubt it - where would the excitement be. We'd be better off playing House of the Dead at the arcade.
A decade back Canterbury used to have the largest LaserQuest type arena in the country and it was great, although physically exhausting (as a beer-consuming student I could have been fitter). Oddly, we were discussing the local Quazar at the pub last night and I'd love to get down there for a blast. Somewaht cheaper and more accessible than paintballing (which I did once near Eppng and loved it!).

Virtually every time I went to a Quasar I was unlucky enough to get a gun that only half worked! Which was a bugger cos when I did have one that worked I kicked serious arse :D
Being a North East-type person I usually got dragged to the one at the Metrocentre and South Shields too.... was always disappointed that there wasn't one in Darlo!

There was a lazer quest in Liverpool which I never went to. I did however play Quasar at Pleasure island (Liverpool) a few times before the whole place was trashed by horrible scally knobs. There was really decent arcade at Pleasure Island so most of my time was spent there.
