Title: Smarties vs M&Ms
Description: Make your stand!
Crunchy - October 19, 2005 04:56 PM (GMT)
The Texan bar thread has reminded me of this burning issue that was much discussed by myself and some mates last week.
I'll get straight to the point and say I'm a Smartie man.
I grew up with Smarties. They've got real chocolate in them. The candy coating is lovely. A gobful of Smarties tastes excellent.
Now, your bog standard choccy M&Ms taste like moo doo. What's in them? It can't be chocolate, surely? Even a big gobful doesn't make them taste any better. Peanut M&Ms are good stuff, no complaints there, but if you want a decent candy coated bit of choc you need the real thing, which is Smarties. I know you get more M&Ms in a bag than you get smarties in a tube but its all about quality over quantity see?

smarties all the way, even when they created the blue ones

Only Smarties have the Answer!

ever seen Cookie Monster eating cookies ? ... well that's kinda me with Smarties .. can't get 'em fast enough ...
gimmieeeeeee !

Smarties - no contest. M & Ms are salty. Actually, they remind me of the 'fake' Smarties you used to get at the market. remember?
zerohour - October 19, 2005 09:35 PM (GMT)
smarties for me... but have you seen them recently they are now in a hexagonal cardboard tube without a plastic lid. This friends is sacrilege and the heretics responsible should burn.....
/remove inquisitors hat and gets his coat.... :P

looks like im the only M&M fan. smarties melt and the color comes off really easy. in this day and age they should have that fixed by now. peanut butter m&m are still the king tho. as big as peanut m&ms but filled with peanut buttery goodness mmmm
AmazingJas - October 20, 2005 03:05 AM (GMT)
Ah, this is a metaphor...Smarties = specbum, M&M's = C64 ;)
M&M's rule! More colours, I can eat them faster, such smooth eating, and they don't fall apart at the slightest touch! :P
Kaptain_von - October 20, 2005 09:26 AM (GMT)
Absolutely and unbendingly a Smarties man myself. Used to eat so many it's a wonder I wasn't permanently hyper. This new tube thing though ? Total sacrilege, the perpetrators should be hunted down and given a severe telling off. My daughter will never have the fun of trying to collect all the letters or using the tube as a blowpipe (or in my case when I was a kid, for making IEDs :) ).

I would have to go with M&M's - It only takes the smell of an orange smartie to make me want to chuck! Don't know why - but that is the truth :o
C64 = M&M's ..... how right you were whoever said that :D

Seems right to me. I never liked Smarties or the Spectrum.
ToxieDogg - November 9, 2005 10:27 PM (GMT)
My vote goes to M&M's.
Mind you, I work in the office above the warehouse where they (and all the other Masterfoods products) all get sent to customers from and often get freebies :D :D

I find M&Ms too sweet and I agree with Rossi they remind me of the cheap smarties you would buy on a market stall in a clear plastic bag.
Sonic Quack - November 10, 2005 10:31 PM (GMT)
The world would be a poorer place without orange Smarties.
Only M&Ms have the answer... I don't think so <_<

I prefer smarties over choccy M&Ms, but crunchy M&Ms beat em all!
Captain Cornflake - November 11, 2005 04:11 AM (GMT)
Screw both of 'em. I'd rather have Reeses Pieces. :P
jennytablina - November 14, 2005 02:23 PM (GMT)
Smarties are kinda cool, does anyone remember when they released whole tubes of just orange smarties? and one point a few years back when they changed the blue smarties for a while so they had candy or something as well inside the shell. They were nice, it's a shame they never brought them back
Crispy M&Ms pwns them all though I'm afraid

Screw them both and Reeces Pieces. Peanut Butter M&Ms 0wn all.
Shame they're rarer than a good idea in George Bush's head. Last 2 times I went to Cybercandy I only managed to purchase a single bag of this mana like confection as they are continuously sold out!
donsybee - November 14, 2005 06:18 PM (GMT)
Smarties especially the ORANGE ones!
Elgin_McQueen - November 28, 2005 11:03 PM (GMT)
Smarties EVERY time. Nothin wrong with the m's though.
