Reminds me of Moschops. Not much to the stories to watch in these, but I loved the character design and animation. So much personality.
ToxieDogg - October 31, 2005 06:43 PM (GMT)
I believe that there's some kind of copyright issue with Cities Of Gold unfortunately, so it may be some time before we get to see Mendoza fiddling with those kids again.
As for what's the best on DVD, I've already got the complete collections of both Dogtanian and Around The World with Willy Fog, and Toxic Crusaders: The Movie. Not much betters those. :P
kaiserpc - October 31, 2005 10:50 PM (GMT)
:( I was sure you meant Cities of Gold when I read the title of this thread :(
Freddy Hardest - November 2, 2005 03:26 PM (GMT)
Pinky and the Brain is on ITV in a minute...

Damn Straight!!!!
But i'm happy with my Visionaries so never mind. Pretty disappointed with Ulysses 31 though, don't remember it being so damn dull, had it for ages but can't bring myself to keep watching the remaining episodes. :( :(
Freddy Hardest - December 5, 2005 06:35 PM (GMT)
I got Mario Bros Supershow, SuperTed, Rainbow, The Shoe People, Darkwing Duck and Stoppit and Tidyup on video from various charity shops recently for about a quid each. They really are a great source of nostalgic cartoon tombfoolery!
Elgin_McQueen - December 6, 2005 06:31 AM (GMT)
Really, really, really, really, REALLY, want Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors¬¬¬

Can understand why ya find Ulysses dull though I find it quite atmospheric and a bit creepy at times. Visionaries is decent enough.
Elgin_McQueen - December 7, 2005 12:37 AM (GMT)
Probably just comparing it to visionaries, might give a few more episodes a watch before I go to bed. Still had one of the greatest theme tunes though.
Ulysses, Ulysses, soaring through all the galaxies, in search of Earth,
flying into the night!
Ulysses, Ulysses, fighting evil and tyranny with all his heart and with all
of his might!
Ulysseee-eee-eees, no-one else can do the things you do!
Ulysseee-eee-eees, like a bolt of thunder from the blue!
Ulysseee-eee-eees, always fighting all the evil forces, bringing peace and
justice to all!
Excellent!!!
Green Arrow - December 7, 2005 12:52 AM (GMT)
I was sure I had the mp3 of the extended version of the theme song but it seems to have vanished from my PC... :(

I saw this thread and became confused. Everyone knows that Dungeons & Dragons is the best ever cartoon series and that came out on DVD last year.
helloall - December 7, 2005 11:36 AM (GMT)
I can't let this thread go on without someone mentioning Thundercats - Hoooooo!

You didn't have to mention Snarf though did ya? :P
Whens the UK release of volume 1 DVDs anyway? I wanna start clearing some space off my hard drive and over 6 gigs of it is ThunderCats episodes.
Also have 13 gigs of Gargoyles episodes which was a great show too. Quite grown up and dark at times for a Disney show.
helloall - December 7, 2005 12:34 PM (GMT)
I cant stop singing the theme toon now...
Its out December Volume 2 (20th so say some sites), Noticed its still region 1 if that makes any difference to ya.
Id get it from the states - was out yesterday - Hooooo
Chetara - yummm - Is that beastiality

Unfortunately nobody knows who owns the copyright to the english version of MCoG. :o The (japanese) company that has them now would have got them through a series of convoluted company mergers/takeovers/sell-offs/etc and probably doesn't even know or care that they have them. :(
The anime distribution company down here in Oz, Madman, has been trying unsuccessfully to track the rights down for the past several years; it's one of the first questions their head honcho asks every time he makes contact with a new anime company (he keeps getting quizzed on it at every con he does a panel at down here :) ) So maybe one day...
I lucked upon a (rather bad) copy of the series, though B)

mel the bell - December 17, 2005 08:00 PM (GMT)
mario supershow would be good if it wasnt for the crappy live action bits inbetween the cartoons :(

i used to love mary mungo and midge

You're WRONG :P
Captain Lou Albano with a false moustache + 'Do The Mario' theme = excellence
(OK, maybe it was a bit poor.... :P but I still think Nintendo should include an unlockable 'Do The Mario!' video clip on a future Super Mario game)
Does anybody remember Centurions? If I remember rightly they had a some sort of catchphrase like 'Power, Extreme!' and it used to be on during a Saturday morning kids show called 'Get Fresh' on ITV (which unfortunately was fronted by Gilbert the smelly alien, and Gaz Top :( )
Patdfb - December 20, 2005 05:09 PM (GMT)
" Swing your Arms form side to side, C' mon its time to go do the Mario
Take one step and then again...." cant actually remember the rest but sooo cool used to be on DJKAT on sky one iirc if they run out of turtles episodes
POWER- X-TREME... iam sue that the lass in the space station was jessica, there was a cat type of creature, the Centurions were Jake, Ace and i cant remember the other one and the two cyborgs were the baddies, again i cant remember what, i had an annual once and had all the various different combinations they could have attached which was well cool
as for jayce and the wheeled warriors was repeated on Fox recently and Sawboss was the bad guy fleur was the girl... as these are the to most often forgotten characters
ME IAM Waiting for Maid Marian on DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i know one of the writers through an email group, and he has no idea when this is due..... GRRRRRRRRRRR
RichardBurton - December 21, 2005 12:10 PM (GMT)
I'd be happy with DVDs of the The Tick, Earthworm Jim and Johnny Bravo - sadly nothing happening...
I wouldn't mind getting hold of Tales Of The Arabian Knights (or something like that) that used to be shown during the Banana Splits show on a Saturday morning, just to see if it was as good as I remember...
Dan_Hopperg - January 11, 2006 01:11 AM (GMT)
i dunno why but i distictly remeber godzilla and godzooki. I cant remeber if it was good or not but good god the theme tune is stuck in my head
Also, the live action parts of the super mario show were the best part "come and do the mario e.t.c"
big-byte - January 20, 2006 10:51 AM (GMT)
I picked up a 'Wizbit' video for 50p at the bootfair last Summer.

its not tecnically a cartoon but who remembers the Trap Door!!!
another cartoon no ones mentioned is the original teenage mutant ninja turtles :D
sshblack - January 23, 2006 12:29 PM (GMT)
There have been so many great memories reading through this latest thread.
Earthworm Jim probably was my favourite as the theme tune is currently my ringtone.
If they released stoppit and tidy up on dvd I would probably wet myself as I ran and giggled like a schoolgirl all the way to the shops.
I have recently bought Dogtanian and the muskerhounds for about £4 on play.com oh and dungeons and dragons.
Still awaiting to see MASK and The Diplodos (the weird aliens that were like stationery objects) to come to DVD.
